The Tir Eoghain GAA Health and Wellbeing Committee is organising a day trip to Croke Park stadium on Saturday April 29.
The outing is available to those aged 60 and over, male and female, and is aimed at providing those participating with an opportunity to escape the routine of everyday life, socialise and enjoy each others’ company on a relaxed day trip.
This is part of the GAA Social Initiative . The mission of the GAA Social Initiative is to make clubs more age-friendly, by increasing the participation of older members of society, through events specifically designed to enrich their lives and respect the important contribution they have made and can continue to make to community life.
The highlight of the event will be a guided tour of the iconic stadium, one of the world’s finest.
The group will be able to re-trace the steps of the legendary Tyrone teams of 2003, ’05 and ’08, who famously won three All-Ireland titles on the hallowed turf.
A fascinating insight into the running of Croke Park, along with an informative commentary on its history, will be provided by your tour guide.
It is our aim to have 3 people from each Club to enjoy a fantastic day out in Croke Park on 29th April. They will enjoy a full guided tour of the Stadium, a short film on the history of Croke Park and some of the great matches played there. This will be followed by lunch and then some time to enjoy the Croke Park Museum before making the journey home.
Transport will be provided from Garvaghey, and time of leaving will be confirmed shortly.
Please identify three older people in your club who you would like to nominate for this trip. It could be a longstanding club player; the person who looked after the jerseys; groundsman; committee member; first aid volunteer; fundraiser or any other committed member of your Club over the years.
This is an opportunity for your club to recognise the contribution of a valued individual in the club.
The only cost to the Club will be £40. That’s £40 in total for the three guests on the day, inclusive of travel, tour, lunch and museum.

Please note the following:
• Each nominee must be over 60 years of age.
• Places cannot be guaranteed after that date.
• If a Club is not taking up this offer, please also let me know this, as a number of clubs have already requested additional places – if they become available.
the date for applications has been extended to Wednesday 5 April. Please get the names of your three nominees (plus a contact number for each) and cheque payable to Tyrone GAA or a card payment by telephone to 028 85567723 for £40.
