Heat 2 of the Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Thír Eoghain Camogie and Hurling Tournament took place on Tuesday 17 January. In the Camogie section, St Colmcille’s PS Carrickmore booked their place in the final with wins over Holy Family Omagh and St Patrick’s PS Castlederg with the Castlederg girls finishing runners-up.
In the boys’ competition, Gaelscoil Uí Dhochartaigh got off to a flyer with a win over the highly-fancied St Colmcille’s PS Carrickmore – the present champions. However, draws with outsiders St Patrick’s Castlederg and St Mary’s Killyclogher denied the Gaelscoil outright first place as Mr. O Neill reorganised his Carrickmore team who recorded 3 wins in-a-row. A battling St Mary’s Killyclogher missed out on qualifying for the finals by one point with Castlederg fourth, and a gallant Holy Family in fifth position.
We can expect all these qualifiers to put up a strong challenge in the Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Thír Eoghain Camogie and Hurling finals at the end of the month.
