Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Thír Eoghain – Indoor Hurling & Camogie: Loughview Day 2

Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Thír Eoghain held the final qualifying heat of its annual 5-a-side ‘Tyrone Indoor Hurling and Camogie’ tournament for primary schools in Dungannon’s superb Loughview Centre. A total of 6 local teams participated in both codes for this heat, which produced a tremendously high standard of skill from all involved.
In the Hurling section, the defending 2015 County champions, St. Patrick’s P.S. Dungannon, put up a sterling defence of their title. Alas, despite their unyielding efforts, the young Dungannon lads narrowly missed out on a final place next week in Omagh. However, this team is young enough to bounce back next year and will have learned a lot from the experience. Instead, it was a talented group of boys from St. Patrick’s P.S. Donaghmore who qualified for the County Final with an unbeaten record. These skilful lads, from ‘the village’, impressed with their array of hurling skills. They will be joined in the Final by an equally impressive Edendork P.S. – who managed to secure a final berth when they finished group runners-up. Thus, the line-up for next week’s Tyrone Indoor Hurling Final is complete:
St. Mary’s P.S. Killyclogher; Gaelscoil Uí Dhochartaigh, Strabane; Our Lady of Lourdes P.S. Greencastle; St. Colmcille’s P.S. Carrickmore; Blessed Patrick O’ Loughran P.S. Castlecaulfield; Primate Dixon P.S. Coalisland; Edendork P.S. and St. Patrick’s P.S. Donaghmore. Ádh mór oraibh!
In the Camogie section, the young girls from St. Patrick’s P.S. Donaghmore gave their all in competition. They displayed a terrific attitude on the day but, unfortunately for them, just missed out on qualification. There is no doubt that these girls will be back stronger next year. The section concluded with the other two schools finishing joint top. Indeed, there was very little to separate the girls from Edendork P.S. and St. Patrick’s P.S. Dungannon. In fact, to underline the point, their league match finished in an absorbing 2-2 draw. As such, both of these gifted teams now take their rightful place in the County Indoor Camogie Final, with the completed line-up as follows:
Holy Family P.S. Omagh; Gaelscoil Uí Dhochartaigh, Strabane; Recarson P.S.; Carrickmore, St. Colmcille’s P.S; St. John’s P.S. Kingsisland (2015 Champions); St. Patrick’s P.S. Roan, Eglish; Edendork P.S. and St. Patrick’s P.S. Dungannon. Ádh mór go léir!
Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Thír Eoghain wishes to thank Joe McAree for hosting us today at Loughview; Tyrone PRO Eddie Doris for co-ordinating, and a word of thanks to our referees: Anne Daly (Tyrone Games Development Administrator), Ruairí Convery (Tyrone P.S.
