Amplification Workshop
The Culture and Language Committee is holding a workshop, on Amplification and the proper use of microphones at Scór events, in St Ciaran’s College in Ballygawley on Thursday night at 7.30 pm. This event is being held in a reasonably central venue in the county to facilitate the attendance of as many clubs as possible.
The main purpose for this arose during the discussions in the workshops relating to the review of Scór in the county. In response to this we are holding practical demonstrations in how best to use amplification to enhance performances in the various Scór disciplines. We have acknowledged the need for this by considering the main factor that many of the competitors in Scór generally do not have a great deal of experience in using microphones and really their first experience is to have a microphone put in front of them, not being aware of the significant importance of using such an aid to its full potential.
This workshop is not specifically designed for the forthcoming County Finals of Scór na nÓg but for all prospective participants in Scór events. This initial workshop is designed as an information and practical experience for Culture Officers in clubs and not for competitors as such. If the feeling in clubs says that such an exercise would be of benefit for competitors then a workshop for competitors will be arranged for some date in the near future. A further reason for the workshop will be to assist clubs in their preparations for the celebration of the Golden Jubilee of the Scór ideal which is to be celebrated in Tír Eoghain in 2020.
Plans are also in place for workshops and practical assistance in other aspects of Scór performance and will be discipline related. Details of these will be issued in due course. As already stated these workshops are designed for all clubs in all aspects of Scór to assist with the enjoyment and participation levels in the various Scór events in preparation for the Golden Jubilee celebrations.
Please ensure the Culture Officers in your club is aware of this workshop and encourage them to attend and avail of the opportunity.
