The best wishes of Gaelic Tyrone are with our two Champion Clubs, Pomeroy Plunketts and Rock St Patricks, as they go in search of the Ulster Intermediate and Junior Club titles in Newry’s Pairc Esler this weekend. Pomeroy are going for a second Ulster title whilst Rock are looking to complete a hat-trick. Some achievements by two neighbouring Clubs!
Tyrone’s other past Ulster Champion Clubs include Brackaville, Cookstown, Derrytresk, Errigal Ciaran, Greencastle, Stewartstown and Trillick.
Both Pomeroy and the Rock also of course celebrate their Centenaries this year. Go n-eiri an bóthar leo! Lamh Dearg abú!
Gaelic Tyrone also looks with more than passing interest on the Senior Final. GAA Clubs from rural, upland/mountain farming areas, where nothing has been gifted from the outside but where good traditions remain strong, where commitment-to-place and the GAA ethos is unbending, and where the important things in life are appreciated, resonate strongly with us here.
So, as serial Down Champions Kilcoo seek a first Ulster title, and the remarkable Slaughtneill go after probably the greatest-ever Club treble in Gaelic games history, go gcuire Dia an t-ádh oraibh uilig! Whatever the result, our Province will be represented by special Gaels. Aithníonn ciaróg ciaróg eile.
