Caman Tir Eoghain Rolls Out

The seeds of a new generation for youth hurling in Tyrone are being sown with the new Camán Tír Eoghain programme being rolled out at the Mid Ulster sports arena and later this month at St Ciaran’s High School Ballygawley with the six weeks coaching open to boys and girls in Primary school classes four to seven.
Tyrone coaches under the guidance of Aidy Kelly assisted by coaches from the various hurling and camogie clubs in the county are delivering the fun filled programme that will cost just £10 per child. Children learn the skills of the small ball game, have fun and also take home a hurl and sliotar at the end of the six weeks, allowing them to further develop their skills ahead of a massive mini-blitz at the home of Tyrone GAA, Garvaghey
Under the umbrella of the newly formed hurling development committee in the county the first of the sessions began last week at MUSA with some eighty children signing up to take part, with clubs from throughout the Cookstown area all well represented.
Sessions will continue at MUSA on Wednesdays between 6pm and 7pm and children can still sign up with registration accepted between 5-45pm and 6pm nightly. The Ballygawley based programme will open it’s doors on Monday nights from February 22^nd and will run for the six weeks , this aimed at Children from throughout the Clogher Valley and surrounding area.
Peter Kerr chairman of the vibrant hurling development group has welcomed the level of interest already shown by the clubs within the catchment areas of the programmes and the numbers keen to take part. The programme is hoped to be rolled out in other new areas while development of existing clubs will also continue.
The mini-blitz is planned for the beginning of April and is expected to be a memorable occasion.
