Camogie Notes

Tyrone Senior Camogie Team where at home to Dublin on Saturday 4th March @2pm in Páirc Éire Óg, Carrickmore , in the second round of the Littlewoods Division 3 National Camogie League. The re-fixed game went ahead on a well prepared Eire Og  Pitch in Carrickmore.
Tyrone got off to a quick start early in the first half and where very unlucky to seal two early goals from Caoimhe Rafferty in the first 10 minutes, with just some slippery patches that just caught her off pace. She worked very hard in the full forward position and had to settle with a well taken point from play to set the Tyrone team up for the first score. It wasn’t long until the Dublin side found their feet and where able to hit back with 2 points from play. Tyrone had to battle hard and worked well in midfield to work another well taken point. The Tyrone side battled hard in defence although it just wasn’t strong enough to stop Dublin getting for an early first half goal followed by another few points from play.
Tyrone’s performance in the second half was much better and improved as they chipped away creating some fine set play. Maggie Hagan and Emma McAliskey where able to link up well to create some simplified moves and get another few scores on the board. Aileen Fox worked like a warrior in half back, disposing and covering breaking ball in all areas in the middle of the park and defence, her efforts where immense in throughout the game.
Tyrone side had left without the win they where hoping for missing some vital scores that would have reflected differently on the game. The Tyrone side have put in a big performance in their first to games that sees them working progressing bit by bit to get up to pace with the national league competition again.
Commiserations to the Eglish Camogie team and management who narrowly lost on the final whistle at Croke Park to a well organised Myshall that got off to a quick start early in the first half. Eglish had just found their feet and really got going in the second half with their true shine of a team performance but unfortunately time just ran out as they got within a puck of the game. Eglish have represented their club, county and the ulster province with pride. Huge acknowledgement must be recognised for the time and effort that they give as a club, players and management to reach an All-Ireland Club Camogie Final, no doubt they can achieve success if they keep knocking on that door.  Slaughtneil of Derry over game their opponents of Sarsfields (Galway) on a very tightly matched game where they just edged them out to win the AIB All-Ireland Senior Club Championship Final.
Tyrone Camogie Senior Training will continue training into March Sunday’s @ 10.00 am Páirc Éire Óg, Carrickmore and Tuesdays Garvaghy @8-9pm as they prepare for the next game at home game against Roscommon on Sunday 19th March.
Tyrone Minors are at home to Cavan on Saturday 11th March, venue tbc.

Thank you to Dungannon Eoghan Ruadh Hurling Club for the use of their facilities they have been more than generous helping and supporting the Tyrone Camogie Teams in every way this year, much appreciated.
Tyrone Camogie will be hosting a Fundraiser  Table Quiz on Thursday 9th March @ 7.30pm in McAleers Bar Dungannon, with all proceeds going towards Tyrone Camogie  Teams. Tyrone camogie would like to invite all those who would like to come along and join in the fun with their friends and family. The Quiz is hosted and supported by Conor McAleer and his staff at McAleers Bar Dungannon. We welcome those Tyrone Gaels, Families and friends to come  along and enjoy a wonderful evening in support of Tyrone  Camogie youth, minors and senior teams.
