The highlight of the week in Tyrone camogie was the final of the Post Primary Championship. The final was between Eglish and Doiretreasc and it was Eglish that lifted the title of the Bridie McMenamin shield for the second year in a row. The game was played in great spirit at a sunny Edendork. Joint captains Catherine Muldoon and Casey Gallagher were presented with the shield from Tyrone county Board member Fionnuala McGrath. Catherine had a double celebration as she was awarded player of the final and was presented with a Tyrone camogie crested kit bag.
There were wins in the Post Primary league for Dungannon, Doiretreasc, Edendork and Eglish in midweek. In the senior league Eglish had a win against Father Shields of Greencastle and Brocagh beat Éire Óg. The week ahead will see the start of the competitive Minor League. Derrylaughan will host Dungannon and Eglish will travel to Éire Óg. In the senior league Eglish will play Brocagh and Dungannon will play Éire Óg.
On Saturday Doiretreasc will host one of this yearsGo Games Blitz’s. The event will start at 10:00am sharp and all teams are requested to be there no later than 9:45am. Can all clubs please contact the co-ordinator of the games Deirdre Fitzgerald and inform her of the age groups that will be attending.
Naomh Treasa of Dungannon will make the long journey to Limerick on Friday as they will represent their county in the All-Ireland Féile. This is the first year the club has reached the finals and they will be hosted out by Ballingarry camogie club from Granagh, County Limerick. Their first match will be on 2:00pm of that Friday afternoon against the host club. There will be a further two matches on the Saturday and depending on the outcome of these a semi –final place awaits on the Saturday afternoon in Croagh. The finals will be played on the Sunday morning. We wish the team and all the mentors and supporters all the best for the weekend.
