NOW FULLY BOOKED! Cardiac Screening Clinic at Garvaghey 21st February

Experts believe that every week in the UK at least 12 apparently ‘fit and healthy’ young people die of undiagnosed heart conditions. A simple cardiac screen may identify such potentially life threatening conditions.
On Saturday 21st February 2015, at Tyrone GAA Headquarters, the Health and Wellbeing committee are facilitating a Cardiac Screening Clinic for Anyone aged 14 to 35. Thevscreening will be carried out by ‘Health Hearts Healthy Lives’, a mobile heart screening service, set up by former GAA players John and Tony Mc Entee, to provide cardiac screening to help prevent sudden deaths in young people who may have “Sudden Adult Death Syndrome”.
The screening takes about 5 minutes to complete and is a non-invasive, pain free procedure. Under 16’s require parental/guardian consent and each individual are required to complete a questionnaire. The test will include a Screening Questionnaire, an ECG and an Echocardiogram if required. All tests will be reported on by a cardiology consultant. Cost Will be partially subsidised by the Health and wellbeing committee.
