CLIMB4CLARE is a fundraising intitiave being promoted by the Ladies Gaelic Football Association. This fundraising initiave was set up by Clare Clarke who has worked for the LGFA for over 10 years and who is currently fighting an aggressive form of cancer. Clare has a young family and after her diagnosis to her dismay she discovered that there was no support available for her children to help them come to terms with her illness. Clare spent some time researching this and discovered the CLIMB (Children’s Lives Include Moments of Bravery) programme which works with kids to help them understand and learn to deal with the their parents or other significant loved ones cancer diagnosis. Unfortunately this programme is hugely underfunded and is only available at 2 cancer centres throughout Ireland. Clare found this unacceptable and set up the CLIMB4CLARE fundraising initiave to raise much needed money so this programme can be rolled out in cancer centres nationwide.
Inspired by this CLIMB4CLARE Tyrone have organised three family fun walks this Sunday 26th October 2014. The walks are taking place as follows:
Omagh (Healy Park) at 12.30 pm
Galbally GAA / Community Centre at 2.30 pm
Loughmacrory GAA at 3.00 pm
These walks are family friendly and are open to all within the community so please pass the word, bring a car load decked out in your club colours and come along on Sunday to support this worthy cause.
