One of the thuds landing on the doormats of homes all over Tyrone and beyond this week is the Club Tyrone 2013 Annual Report. A much, much louder thud is its announcement that Club Tyrone broke all its previous records by donating an astonishing £444,000 to the Tyrone GAA cause in 2013.
“On and off the field it was a good, good year for Tyrone GAA” Club Tyrone Chairman Hugh McAleer commented. “Our teams did well, our Clubs excel themselves, our Garvaghey centre was completed and opened and on top of it all our people rowed in with their breath-taking contribution of £444,000. It’s all the more humbling for us when we set that contribution in the context of the difficult economic times that so many Tyrone people and communities continue to face.”
Over almost twenty years what’s now Club Tyrone has donated over £3.92m to Tyrone GAA. Just over half that amount, £1.96m has gone to the Garvaghey project.
“The ‘GAA job’ is never finished” Tyrone County Chairman Ciarán MacLochlainn added. “There are always new hills to climb. But this outstanding support from our Club Tyrone people and Garvaghey Patrons just makes so many more things possible.”
Club Tyrone now has almost 400 Members on board as well as 292 Garvaghey Patrons.
