EXCITING times are ahead for the games of hurling and camogie in the Clogher Valley as Cúchulainn an Ghleanna, formed and officially constituted only a few months ago, gear up to play their first competitive match.
This Monday night, the club will make their full debut in the Tyrone under-12 hurling league, when they take on Fintona Setanta at the Tyrone GAA centre in Garvaghey with the ball being thrown in at 7.30pm.
The club have already had the opportunity to wear their distinctive, old-style Tipperary kit at an under-12 indoor blitz at the Mid Ulster Sports Arena on April 1st, but this represents an exciting step in the development of establishing a hurling and camogie culture in the area.
A summer camp has also been planned for July 25th and 26th at St Ciaran’s school, Ballygawley. For details or to reserve a place, please make contact with the club through our social media avenues.
The club catchment area covers the parishes of Errigal Ciaran, Aghaloo, Killeeshil, Augher and Clogher. Currently they provide coaching for boys and girls aged 4 to 13 years and aim to expand this so that within the next ten years they can field teams at all underage levels as well as at adult level.
Cúchulainn an Ghleanna currently hold their training at St Ciaran’s College Ballygawley on Monday evenings supported by coaches from Tyrone GAA and newcomers are welcome to join us in bringing the small ball game to our local community.
