Bíonn “Cúig Bhomaite Chomhrá” ar siúl gach bliain ag Coiste Cultúir, CLG Thír Eoghain le hairgead a bhronnadh ar dhaltaí óga Chumann Lúthchleas Gael ar mhaith leo dul chun na Gaeltachta le feabhas a chur ar a gcuid Gaeilge, idir scríofa agus labhartha. Ní bhronntar scolaireachtaí ach airgead póca amháin le cuidiú le daltaí an sprioc seo a chur i gcrích.
Le sochair a bhaint as an scéim, ní mór do dalta foirm iarratais a líonadh agus a chur ag Séamus Mac Giolla Phádraig, 41 Cabhán an Chaorthainn, Pomeroy, Tír Eoghain, BT70 2RD roimh 22.05.10 agus freastal ar “Cúig Bhomaite Chomhrá” 5.6.10 ó 10am -1.00pm. Beidh na scoláireachtaí bronnta ag ócáid sa tseachtain dar gcionn. Is é Coiste an Chontae atá freagrach as an tsoláthair airgid.
Bíonn “Cúig Bhomaite Chomhrá” ann le déanamh cinnte go bhfuil an dalta reidh le dul chun na Gaeltachta agus go dtig leis bun-chomhrá Gaeilge a dhéanamh. Bíonn cúrsaí Gaeilge ann do pháistí taobh amuigh den Ghaeltacht le cuidiú le páistí caighdean bhun-chomhrá a bhaint amach sula dtéann siad ag an Ghaeltacht.
Each year, the GAA’s Culture Committee in Tír Eoghain organises “Cúig Bhomaite Chomhrá” to give financial help to young members of the GAA who wish to go to the Gaeltacht to improve their written and spoken Irish. Scholarships are not awarded to this end, only pocket money.
In order to avail of the scheme students should fill in an application form, and send it to Séamus Mac Giolla Phádraig, 41 Cabhán an Chaorthainn, Pomeroy, Tír Eoghain, BT70 2RD before 22.05.10 and then attend “Cúig Bhomaite Chomhrá” on Saturday, 5.6.10 between 10.00pm – 1.00pm. Tyrone County Board is responsible for the provision of the funds for the scheme.
“Cúig Bhomaite Chomhrá” is organised to ensure that the student is ready to go to the Gaeltacht and can already hold a basic conversation in Irish. There are Irish courses outside the Gaeltacht to help students achieve a basic standard of conversational Irish before they go to the Gaeltacht.
