Killyman St Marys GFC would like to extend their deepest and most sincere sympathies to the entire Comac family on the passing of Daryl. Our thoughts are with his Mother, Father, Brothers, Sisters, wider family circle and friends at this time.
Daryl was a member and current player of Killyman St Marys GFC and the whole community has been left shocked and deeply saddened by his sudden passing.
Killyman St Marys were extremely lucky to have had the pleasure of getting to know Daryl over the last number of years and we are both proud and honoured that he got to play the game he loved with Killyman. He was an asset to our club and this was evident every time we saw him; on and off the field of play. We are grateful that Daryl was afforded the opportunity to represent our club on many occasions; this was a task that he did so well.
Daryl was a young boy when he first came to play for Killyman but he immediately fitted in and made a great impression. During his time with Killyman St Marys, we saw him grow and progress in all aspects of his life. He became a huge part of our local community and developed into a fine young man who represented Killyman St Marys with great distinction. We are privileged to have shared so many great days with Daryl.
He began his career with Killyman by playing U-14 football and then moving to U-16 level. Within this short time he helped his club reach 4 finals in total; U-14 league and Championship finals and U-16 league and Championship finals. These talented young footballers whom he played with had a great bond which was extremely apparent; they were team mates but more importantly they were friends.
He was a young lad who had a love for life and for Gaelic Games. As well as playing Gaelic Football for Killyman St Marys, he was also a promising young Hurler who even managed to grace Croke Park with his skills. He played Hurling with Eoghan Ruadh Hurling Club; and to them we pass on our condolences.
As a student of St Patricks Academy, he showed fantastic promise academically. To his teachers and fellow class mates we also pass on our condolences.
Killyman St Marys, as a club and as a community have been left devastated at the news of the passing of this bright young star. Daryl was very highly regarded within the club; not just for his footballing abilities but for his warmth and kindness as a person. We are truly blessed that Daryl chose to represent and play for Killyman.
Daryl Comac will be remembered as a Killyman St Marys GFC footballer, an ambassador for Gaelic Games and as an inspiring individual whom we were blessed to have known. He will be fondly thought of for the success he helped create, for the friendships he made, for the respect he always showed and for being the best he could possibly be.
