Gaelic Tyrone, like all of Ulster, is saddened to learn of the death, after a long life of great achievement, of Dr Pat O’Neill.
Born in Keady, Pat was central to that post-War generation who totally reshaped the GAA in Ulster, winning the first-ever Hogan Cup with St Patrick’s College, Armagh and then helping his native Armagh to the 1953 All-Ireland Senior Football Final. Relocated to Omagh as a GP, he won Tyrone SFC titles with Naomh Eanna and became a mainstay of local life in his adopted town and County.
Our deepest sympathy goes to Patricia, Fiona, Clare, Una, Ciara, Maeve and Sinead and their families, to Pat’s wider family circle, to his many friends, colleagues and patients, and to the Gaels of Armagh and Omagh.
I measc Naomh na hÉireann agus Laochra na nGael go raibh sé | May he rest among the Saints of Ireland and the Heroes of the Gael.
