Eglish Festival – May Bank Holiday Weekend

Organisers of next week’s Riverbank Festival in Eglish, Co. Tyrone have been credited with securing a major coup with the appearance of Ireland’s two leading country singers.
Derek Ryan and his band open the weekend with a show that is attracting hundreds of followers across the country.  Derek’s last appearance in neighbouring Moy resulted in hundreds being turned away as the doors of the Ryandale were closed within one hour of opening.
On Saturday 25th May the stars of the festival are local villagers who trip the light fantastic in a ‘Come Dancing’ extravaganza with ten couples performing everything from tango to jive. Having taken part in weeks of intensive training, this is the area’s second dance show with their 2010 ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ selling out for two nights. The show will be hosted by Malachi Cush.
The festival finale on Sunday 26th has Ireland’s number one country star Nathan Carter performing his many hits including the huge selling ’Wagon Wheel’.  Nathan is credited with having opened Irish country music to a new young generation of dancers.  It is expected that his first visit to the tiny Tyrone village will draw an enormous crowd.  Recently upwards on 4000 attended his open air concert in the Athletic Grounds, Armagh.
