Details of the 2026 Gaeltacht Grants are now available for members who wish to attend Gaeltacht colleges in Donegal and deepen their knowledge of our native language in communities where Irish is spoken every day.
Demand for places at Gaeltacht courses continues to grow year on year. In many cases, bookings for the coming summer are now made shortly after the previous year’s courses conclude. This reflects a renewed and growing interest in the Irish language, also seen in the expansion of Gaelscoileanna across the country and ongoing efforts to develop Irish-medium education at second level.
This momentum is further supported by statutory bodies and organisations such as the GAA and LGFA, who continue to promote and encourage the use of Irish in communities and sporting environments.
Here in Tír Eoghain, our clubs play a vital role in supporting the language. From bilingual signage at club grounds to Irish announcements at both club and intercounty games, the commitment to promoting Irish is clear. It is especially encouraging to see so many young people embracing the opportunity to attend Gaeltacht colleges in Donegal each summer.
Tír Eoghain remains one of the leading counties in Ulster in providing financial support for Gaeltacht attendance. With the cost of courses continuing to rise, the availability of grant aid from the county board and other organisations is a valuable support for families.
We commend the young people of the county for their commitment to learning and using the Irish language, and we look forward to seeing them bring their experience and enthusiasm back to their clubs and communities.

Applications will close on Friday 29th May at 5.00pm. Please note no late or incomplete applications will be processed. All forms must be returned to the email address included on the application form, or printed and returned to the mailing address.
Please note that presentation of cheques will be made in Garvaghey on Thursday 11th June at 6.45pm.
