Gambling Awareness Workshop this Thursday night in Greencastle

The dangers posed by gambling is the central theme of a workshop to be held in Greencastle Community Centre this Thursday.
The event is being jointly hosted by Tyrone’s two ‘Healthy Clubs’, Omagh St Enda’s and An Caisleán Glas, and is aimed at over 16-year-olds.
The workshop will be delivered by Breakthru, a leading organisation in the field of substance misuse in Northern Ireland.
This unique gambling awareness evening is the first programme to be jointly promoted by both clubs, and it aims at addressing a very important issue in local communities.
Omagh and An Caisleán Glas are the only Tyrone Clubs currently involved in the GAA’s National Healthy Club Programme.
The Tyrone GAA Health and Wellbeing Committee is encouraging all clubs to consider implementing health and wellbeing programmes into their club activities in 2017 and to ensure their club has a dedicated health and wellbeing officer.
The session is for anyone over 16 years and will look at:
• The possible dangers of gambling and effects of gambling addiction.
• The common themes in gambling.
• The support available to anyone that feels they or someone they know may need it.
The event takes place on Thursday 26th January at 8.30pm in Greencastle Community Centre.
