Gortin Sperrin Fest is back for Halloween weekend 2015 with another trio of delights and something in store for all age groups.
The weekend kicks off with some Family Halloween Festivities in the Owenkillew Community Centre on Friday 30th October that will see a selection of traditional Halloween Trick or Treat games for the children to enjoy, along with prizes for the best costumes, pumpkin carving, music, tasty treats and many more activities.
On Saturday there will be drama at the Gortin Rouskey Social Centre when the widely acclaimed St Mungos take to stage to entertain in their unique style of comedy based on scenes that would be recognised from many GAA clubs throughout the country.
The weekend events conclude in Gortin tradition with a massive prize pot of over £5,000 for Big Bingo which takes place on Sunday 1st November at 3PM.
Sperrin Fest 2015 is part of Gortin St Patrick’s GAA club annual programme of events which are organised in conjunction with Badoney Ladies GAA and the Owenkillew Community Centre to keep the local community vibrant and entertained. Club Chairman Gabriel Treanor said, ‘We are delighted to work again this year with Badoney Ladies and the Owenkillew Centre to put on this Halloween programme that will bring hundreds of people into the village for the weekend activities. This is an important part of what we in Gortin St Patrick’s work to do. Last year’s Family Halloween Festivities was a great night and saw many volunteers coming together to put on a wide range of simple activities that the children loved.
New for 2015 are St Mungos and we are delighted that we have persuaded the fantastic comedy duo of Grimes and McKee to come to the village. Although I have heard from their post on Facebook that they may need directions to Gortin from Greencastle and Rouskey, I am sure that there will get there in time for the 8PM start! This is a superb comedy show and we are very lucky to have them. I hope that everyone in the community comes out and supports this great weekend as a tribute to the volunteers who work so hard to put on these events’.
Tickets for St Mungos are now on sale at various Gortin retail outlets at a cost of £15 each with a special offer of 2 for £25, or by contacting Nigel on 07725 603141. More details are available on Facebook Gortin Sperrin Fest.
