As Tyrone prepare to take on the All-Ireland champions Donegal on the final bank holiday weekend in May, plans are also being put in place for the inaugural Hooley in Healy which will take place over four days from the 23rd to 26th May at Healy Park.
A feast of family fun and frolics are being lined up by the Omagh GAA club with a major concert featuring the highly popular ‘Whistlin Donkeys’ proving to be the climax of their celebrations on the Sunday night. The four-day Hooley will commence on Thursday 23rd with a massive bingo event in the St. Enda’s complex with a prize fund of £6,000 up for grabs by contestants.
A primary schools football tournament will be held at Healy Park on Friday 24th and later that evening, a host of GAA enthusiasts will come together for a pre-championship Chat Show in the clubrooms to debate how Tyrone will fare against Donegal that weekend. Tickets for this event are £5 each and to secure a good seat it is advisable to book early.
A family funday is planned for the Saturday, featuring a range of activities for all ages and later that night in the club lounge, local band ‘Frig’ will entertain guests.
For those who are not able to secure a ticket for the big Sunday game in Ballybofey, the match will be shown live on the big screen in the clubrooms that day. Later that night, the nighlight of the weekend’s Hooley will be a special appearance by the ‘Whistlin Donkeys’. A huge crowd is expected for the Bank Holiday celebrations and tickets are now on sale
