He’s held up as the perfect example of the modern wing-back. Tough tackling combined with surging upfield runs and inspirational scores, non-stop workrate and perennial motion for 70 minutes.
One of the quieter ones on the Tyrone team, Philip Jordan is as unassuming an inter-county player as you’ll come across, yet has been the driving force behind so many of their successes over the years.
He reveals though that their disappointing loss to Cork last year could have been his last in a Red Hand shirt, but for a candid discussion with manager Mickey Harte following his injury nightmare. Now with a clean bill of health and time running out for the 30 year-old, he’s hungry for a fourth All-Ireland medal and believes another Sam Maguire success is well within their reach as they once again defy the critics who say they’re past it.
