We all know Paul Marlow as our All-Ireland Minor-winning full-back from 2004 and a subsequent Eskra Emmets stalwart. But as a part of our County sponsors McAleer & Rushe team he’s also recently become another Champion, winning the Construction Manager of the Year 2016 award for his inspirational leadership on a £29m, 759-unit student accommodation project in Angel lane, Stratford, London for Unite Students.
Paul beat 85 other finalists and 10 Gold Medalists to win the coveted title and become the first overall winner from a residential category in the competition’s 38-year history. He oversaw a hugely complex project, hemmed in by a road, bridge and railway and facing site and utility issues, delivering it on time and on budget.
Meanwhile McAleer & Rushe recently held two major project ‘topping-out’ ceremonies. Catherine House in Portsmouth will provide 1,000 student accommodation units by August next year in a prime city centre location whilst the firm’s ‘Hampton by Hilton’ £45m, eight-storey, 357-bed hotel project at Stansted Airport will also be welcoming guests next summer.
