Both for those who take their running seriously and for those who run on a more casual basis the good news is that the Killyclogher 10K Road Run goes ahead on Saturday 18th May 2013.
The Killyclogher 10K Road Run, together with a 5K Fun Run and Walk, has become one of the most popular in the year’s calendar of Road Runs. An attractive flat course, good stewarding and warm hospitality have ensured that runners keep coming back as well as new runners taking part each year.
Last year’s winner was local runner Stevie Duncan and the Ladies race was won by Denise Toner. The 5K Race was won by Conor McLaughlin and Cathy Cunningham.
The organisers, Killyclogher St Mary’s GAC, launched this year’s event last Thursday. Keeping to the old adage of not changing a winning formula once again the same course is being used and, once again, the generosity of main sponsors, Strathroy and O’Neills, with the support of 15 other local sponsors will ensure the best for the days event. An attractive extra this year will be chipped timing for all 10K runners.
There will be good quality T-Shirts for the first 200 entrants. Pre Entries can be downloaded from the Killyclogher GAA website (www.killycloghergaa.com) or can be booked online on the Athletics NI website.
The Race and Walk is another of Killyclogher’s major fundraisers for the year and follows in the theme for all their fundraisers this year, “The Year of the Gathering”, so they are hoping to see plenty of old faces back at the Club Grounds at Ballinamullan on 18th May. This year Killyclogher GAC also hope to make donations to local charities Gina Carrigan Forget Me Not and Martin’s Grand Plan/Tour de Frank which both have associations with the Club. These other two worthy causes are running charity cycles in the coming months and the Club hopes as many members as possible take part.
With just 4 weeks to go it is time to register and there is also time to do some practical preparation.
