Today Club Tyrone is, in its present incarnation, ‘Sweet Sixteen’! Sixteen years ago today, on 4 July 2001, Club Tyrone was launched in Cookstown’s Greenvale Hotel, as a seamless follow-through from The Millennium Initiative, which had itself been launched six years before that.
Over those two decades-plus, the wonderful people involved have raised well over £5m for Tyrone GAA. That serious cash has helped fund the stand in Healy Park, has heavily under-written Garvaghey and has helped Tyrone collect, among much else, 22 Ulster and 11 All-Ireland football titles.
To anyone who has helped in any way, buíochas ó chroí leat! Gaelic Tyrone will always remain in your debt. Enjoy that Sixteenth Birthday! And help us reach many, many more!
