A number of well known GAA personalities will help launch the start of the Moy’s big ‘Lark in the Páirc’ weekend at the start of September. A large marquee will be erected at Páirc Thír na nÓg for a series of events that is expected to attract huge crowds to the home of An Mhaigh G.A.C.
Things will get underway on Thursday 1st September at 8.30pm with a pre All-Ireland Questions and Answers show, featuring some past and present Ulster GAA greats. Armagh All-Ireland winner Benny Tierney, former Down All-Star Ross Carr and Moy’s very own Sean Cavanagh will be joined by one other mystery guest on the night. Those attending will have the opportunity to quiz the celebrity panel on a number of GAA topics. It promises to be a thoroughly entertaining evening with no shortage of talking points! Admission, by ticket or pay at door, is £10. Tickets now on sale from PB’s Bar, The Auction Rooms and McKearney Butchers in Moy.
Then, on Friday 2nd September at 8.00pm, the highly popular ‘Take Me Out’ show will be coming to the Moy GAA grounds followed by a disco later that night. Close on forty females will be taking to the specially erected podium on the night hoping to find the perfect date. Vying for their attention will be a number of young hot blooded males from the Moy and surrounding areas who have been selected to take part in this eagerly awaited show which will be presented by Cool FM’s Connor Phillips. This event is already close to being a sell-out, although a small number of tickets (priced £20) are still available from Moy GAC as well as ‘Cuba’ stores in Dungannon and Cookstown.
A Gala Steak Night, with music from a live band, will take place on the evening of Saturday 3rd September. A tasty selection of hot food and drink will be served at 7.30pm, while well-known and successful band ‘Divil The Bit’ will be performing live music in the marquee from 10.00pm to late. Those attending should come with a healthy appetite and bring along their dancing shoes as this promises to be a very satisfying and entertaining affair. Tickets for this event are £20 and available from all An Mhaigh GAC youth team mentors and committee members.
Then, to conclude the weekend, a Traditional and Blues session will be held on the afternoon of Sunday 4th September. There is free entry to this session, which will commence at 2.00pm and promises to cater for people of all ages and musical tastes. All musicians are welcome to come along on the day and join in the fun. It should be a fine way to end our weekend festivities.
