It was another busy for week in Tyrone for both the clubs and the county under 14’s. A full county squad made the long journey to Donegal town to play in the four masters club in Pairc Tir Conaill in the Ulster championship semi-final. The team was fresh from the Ulster Blitz title and were keen to end the week with another win. The weather was not as kind as their previous matches and the sun disappered to be replaced by persistant rain. Donegal were strong and determined and it took Tyrone a long time to register their first goal after a series of wides in the blustery conditions. There were long periods of hard hitting tackles and Tyrone dispite winning most balls were unable to make their possession count for anything. There was another goal for Tyrone late on in the half and thats how it stood when the whistle ended the half.
Tyrone started the second half and they were now clearly ready to take the game to Donegal. The team gelled well very early on and as expected the scores game thick and fast. The home side could not keep up the pace they set in the first half and it became a very one sided affair. Tyrone used all their subs and the final score was Donegal 0:0 Tyrone 9:4.Scorers Niamh Donnelly 3:0, Niamh Faulker 3:0, Nicola McKeaver 1:0, Orla Coyle 1:0, Jordan Fay 1:0, Rona Mallon 0:2, Eimear Coyle 0:1 and Catherine Donnelly 0:1.
Tyrone will now meet Cavan who beat Moneghan, in next weeks Ulster championship final. It will be a repeat of the Ulster Blitz final in which we all know Tyrone came out on top. Massive thank you to Bernie Mallon who steered the team to a huge win and the team will have Fionnuala McGrath back to help Bernie next week. Thanks extended to all at the Four master club who looked after the team well after the match.
In the club champiohsip minor fixtures there were wins for Dungannon and Derrylaughan who will now play each other in the final in the coming weeks.Éire Óg and Eglish will contest the under 16 championship, Eileen Coney Cup, final on 9th September.Congratulations to Eglish for winning the under 14 league for 2012. Derrylaughan was the venue for the Go Games Blitz on Saturday past and it was an excellent day for the young camogs. All age groups were catered for and a big thanks to all at the club who made everyone very welcome. There were ample refreshments for the supporters, mentors and all the camogs got their fill of goodies at the end.
