Tyrone GAA is deeply saddened by the passing of Liam Campbell, the last surviving member of our first All-Ireland Minor-winning team of 1947. That historic victory, achieved in a thrilling final against Mayo in Croke Park, secured the Tom Markham Cup and etched Liam’s name forever into Tyrone GAA history.
A gifted footballer, Liam also enjoyed a distinguished career with Coalisland Fianna, winning an O’Neill Cup medal in 1955, and later serving as a club official and administrator. A hugely respected and popular figure, his contribution to club, county and colleges football will be fondly remembered across Tyrone.
Predeceased by his beloved wife Ethna (Cush), we extend our sincere condolences to Liam’s family, friends and the wider Fianna and Tyrone GAA community.
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
