Live to Play – Cookstown Event

Live to Play Road Safety Event Comes to East Tyrone 
The third seminar in the series of Live to Play Road Safety campaign, designed and co-ordinated by the Ulster GAA in conjunction with the Tyrone County Committee comes to the East of Tyrone on Monday 21 June at 7.00 with an event to be held in the Holy Trinity Primary School, Cookstown. 
The seminar aims to raise awareness of Road Safety and sets about educating members on how best to stay safe on the roads. Speaking ahead the event Tyrone County Chairman Ciaran McLaughlin said “Many of our clubs have been directly impacted by fatalities caused by road traffic accidents. Whilst the full impact of Live to Play will never be known, the implementation of the programme into Tyrone clubs is a positive step for us in GAA in doing what we can to reduce the carnage on our roads, particularly amongst our young members”.
Two events have taken place to date in Killeeshil and Killyclogher with the Beragh Red Knights and Eskra clubs coming together to organise their own event a few weeks back. All these seminars have seen a very encouraging turn out and those who have attended have commented on the merits of this Road Safety campaign and on the fact that they would consider their own actions, both as a driver or a passenger, more so now after listening to the information presented in such a powerful and professional manner. 
The seminar in East Tyrone, which all members of local clubs are very much encouraged to attend, will involve Road Safety educators from the Fire & Rescue Services, PSNI Laision Officers and members of An Garda Siochana in attendance to deliver their message to Club representatives. 
Encouraging all club members aged 16 and over from Cookstown, Moortown, Ardboe, Stewartstown, Clonoe, Brocagh, Derrytresk, Pomeroy, Rock, Coalisland, Greencastle, Dungannon, Brackaville, Derrylaughan, Galbally, Kildress, Killyman and Naomh Colmcille to attend Cuthbert Donnelly who Chairs the sub-committee co-ordinating this campaign said   “ Young people and indeed adults will come away from this one and a half seminar knowing that they have picked up information that may well save their own life and that of others and what greater incentive is there for people out there to attend than that I would therefore implore Club Officers and managers of youth teams to encourage clubs members particularly the youth to attend”.
