Garvaghey hosted a wee bit of GAA history tonight when Laragh United and Cavan’s Maggie Farrelly became the first woman to referee a competitive Senior Inter-County GAA match. Maggie expertly oversaw a thrilling McKenna Cup tie between Fermanagh and St Mary’s University College, despite conditions deteriorating as the night went on.
After the game Tyrone’s County Chair Roisin Jordan made a presentation to Maggie on behalf of the Gaels of Tyrone. It was our honour and delight to be a part of history being made. Ná glac pioc comhairle gan comhairle ban!
