Miles For Matty Launched.
A very special cycle/run/walk this May will remember the life of Killyclogher man Matthew Drumm who died suddenly in December 2013. The event will also highlight the importance of, and need for, organ donation across the country while all proceeds raised from the event will go to the Northern Ireland Transplant Association.
Matthew had links to both the Omagh and Killyclogher clubs and his sudden passing came as a massive blow to his family and the entire communities of Killyclogher and Omagh. However his untimely and very sad passing gave the gift of life to seven different individuals who at that time were in need of organ transplant.
Garvaghey, the home of Tyrone GAA was the venue this week for the launch of the “Miles For Matty” event which commemorates the life of Matthew. Matthews family were joined by Tyrone manager Mickey Harte, Tyrone players and Northern Ireland transplant association chair Erica Ferguson
The event will take place on Saturday May 21st with the starting point being the village of Killyclogher. Those who wish to support the event in terms of participating can select from a five km walk, a ten km run or a sixty mile cycle.
Matty’s brother Ciaran addressed the gathering and explained the rationale behind the design of a special jersey that was unveiled on the night, the former Omagh footballer went on to outline the project and the family’s support of organ donation since Matthew himself was a firm believer in it.
