Omagh win Award

By Paddy Sat 12th May

Omagh St. Enda’s 80th year Anniversary celebrations received a wonderful boost on Friday when the club was named as Ulster’s best large club in the 2012 Irish News Club and Volunteer Awards.
The honour was bestowed on the club at the awards presentation in the Wellington Park Hotel with chairman Seamus Hannigan picking up a £1,000 cheque and a £1,000 O’Neills sports voucher on behalf of St. Enda’s.
The club was judged on its work within the community and with local schools and on how it promoted all codes of Gaelic Games. We were also assessed on our development plans but the judges made particular reference to our initiatives in developing young players in the community.
Welcoming the award, Mr  Hannigan said it was a tremendous boost in this special year.
“2012 is definitely shaping up well. We started with winning the Ulster U21 championship then we had two teams in the All-Ireland Scór na nÓg and Scór Sinsir finals. This award is another wonderful achievement as we celebrate our 80th Anniversary year,” he added.
