With the 2017 Football and Hurling Season just around the corner preparations are under way to commence the New Referee Recruits training.
Next Thursday Night, 19th Jan, at 7pm in Garvaghey the latest Recruits nominated by their Clubs to take up the Whistle Challenge will under take their first steps to becoming a Gaelic Football Referee. The Training will be held over 3 Nights plus another online session having to be completed before the new Whistlers will begin their refereeing careers. All those who complete the Course will commence officiating at Youth Level and hopefully before the year is out move onto Referee at Adult level. There has been a fairly positive response to our latest recruitment campaign stated Referee’s Co-ordinator Eugene Mc Connell, but some clubs have yet to respond and these clubs would be encouraged to nominate a suitable individual to join the refereeing fraternity.
If there are any Clubs who have someone who wishes to become a Gaelic Football or Hurling Referee they can still come along on Thursday next or forward details to either Eugene Mc Connell, Fabian Mc Glone or Alan Richardson.
