The now Annual Ryan Tierney U.18 Memorial Tournament organised by the Clogher Éire Óg Gaels and hosted by Clogher is due to take place on Sunday 23rd Feb. The U-18Blitz group stages will be played at St. Patrick’s Park Clogher and the finals of the Shield and “Ryan Tierney” Perpetual Cup will be played in the afternoon at the same venue. Last year Ardboe, won the Title for a second successive season and are back again going for 3 In a Row. In the Decider the Lads from the Lough Shore defeated Moy in a thrilling Final. They also went on to win the Tyrone Minor Championship final. In the Shield Final, Dromore over came Loughmacrory.
Holders Ardboe return to compete for their 3rd year and Ardboe stalwart Benny Hurl, speaking ahead of the competition stated “Winning the “Ryan Tierney Cup” last year was a fantastic launch pad for our minor team’s great successful run and this competition comes at the right time of the season and acts as great preparation for the Tyrone Minor League campaign which starts a week later. The competition is very professionally run and it’s a credit to the Clogher Club for organising such a well structured tournament which allows you to test yourself against teams from neighbouring counties. Lets hope we can defend our title” and complete a Three In A Row !”
