Sacred Heart College Omagh created a little bit of schools football history last Friday when they clinched a first Ulster schools football title by easing to a 7-15 v 1-03 win over De La Salle Belfast in the Year 9 Faul Cup at Ardboe. Under Manager Owen Devine and coaches Caolan Harvey, Cathal Gallagher and Ronan Mc Namee. the Omagh school turned in a quality display from start to finish.
As St Patricks High School they had collected the all Ireland under 16 vocational schools title in 1986, thirty one years on and with the new college, an amalgamation of St Patrick’s and St Bridget’s in 2000, this is certainly a major milestone. The College has enjoyed success in Tyrone vocational schools and ladies football since its foundation but this Ulster title is history making and perhaps the stepping stone to future success.
