The 2013 Scór season begins again this weekend with the three preliminary rounds. First up will be Killyman St Mary’s, in their centenary year, this Friday night at 7.30 pm. All of the clubs in the eastern end of the county will perform there. On Saturday night it will be the turn of the Gaels of West Tyrone, who will assemble in the home of the Clann na nGael club at the Aughabrack Community Centre beginning at 6.30 pm. On the Sunday it will be the clubs in the middle Tyrone, who will assemble at the Dún Uladh centre at Killyclogher, beginning at 5.00 pm. Sunday night, as has been traditional, will be the ‘adjudication’ night when the decisions on what clubs progress to the semi-finals will be announced.
The Scór programme will then progress to the semi-finals which are due to be held in St Eugene’s Hall, Newtownstewart on Friday 15th November at 7.30 pm with the second semi final in the Eglish club hall on Sunday 17th November 2013 at 5.00 pm.
The CountyFinal makes a welcome return to the Community Centre at Killeshil on Sunday 1st December at 3.00 pm
The Tyrone champions will then progress to the Ulster Semi Final at a Cavan venue, competing against Cavan and Monaghan clubs for a place in the Ulster Final, which is due to be held on Saturday 11th January 2014 .The venue for the Ulster Final is yet to be decided.
The All Ireland Final takes place in the Theatre Royale in Castlebar on Saturday 1st March 2014.
The Scór programme has undergone a review of all of its competitions.
The Novelty Act has been completely removed and is replaced with a new competition called Léiriú. It is broadly similar to the Nuachleas discipline which it replaces. It asks clubs to represent Ireland and its mythology and history in a stage production. A copy of the new rule book is available on line at the CrokePark website or in hard copy from members of the Culture and Language sub committee.
This weekend’s productions will show how clubs in Tyrone are adapting to the new rules but nevertheless there is no doubt we will be in for a treat as the creative and imaginative minds, so very active in many of our clubs, manifest themselves.
