Change of venue for Scór Final
Due to the success of Cill Íseal N Mhuire in the Ulster Club Championship the County Final of Scór na nÓg scheduled for Killeshil this coming Sunday, 1st December, has been switched to The Parochial Hall in Coalisland starting at 3.00 pm sharp. The final was due to be in the Killeeshil venue but obviously the Gaels of Killeeshil will have other things on their minds. Ádh Mór libh.
We are delighted with Killeshil’s success and we will be waiting anxiously during the County Final to hear of their success in the club finals in Armagh.
A total of twenty one clubs will compete in Coalisland for the honour of becoming one of the eight county winners and progress to represent their club and Tyrone in the Ulster series. Tyrone will compete against Cavan and Monaghan in Killeshandra, Co Cavan on 14th December for a place in the Ulster final to be held at the end of January 2014.
This year’s Scór na nÓg competition has attracted a huge number of clubs in Tyrone, ranging from the ones that are always there to clubs who are back in competition for the first time for many years.

This year will see some differences to the marking systems in most of the disciplines and also see a totally new section in Léiriú. Most clubs are treating the Léiríú section with a level of caution until they can see exactly what is expected. Both Omagh clubs have grasped the nettle and are putting this to the test. Hopefully many more clubs will take the step and compete next year. Some of the senior clubs may even be watching to see what the ‘youngsters’ are doing.
The Tráth na gCeist has also taken a major transformation in that it will be taken as a stand alone competition following the Tyrone final on Sunday. There will be no corresponding competition at Ulster level and will conclude at the All Ireland Finals in Castlebar on the night before the All Ireland Final of Scór na nÓg in Castlebar on 1st March 2014.
Nevertheless Sunday promises to be a great day in the promotion of our national culture and heritage. If you want to see Tyrone’s talent perform at their very best go to Coalisland Parochial Hall at 3.00 pm on Sunday as you will surely be in for a treat.
