The time has come again for the beginning of the ‘Scor’ season.
Scor competitions for the coming season, in Tyrone, will be held in November. These will then be followed by competitions at Ulster level which are held in December with the Ulster Final taking place in January 2013 at a venue yet to be decided. The All Ireland Final will be held in Derry, ‘The European City of Culture 2013’, during the month of February.
Now is the time to begin preparations for these competitions. To that end the Culture and Language Committee will help clubs to kick start the season with its Open and General meeting to be held at Kelly’s Inn, Garvaghey on Wednesday, 5th September 2012. The main function of this meeting will be to look at the past year and discuss how we did our business for 2012 and discuss how and where we can improve for the coming season.
Following this Culture and Language will convene a further ‘Developmental meeting’ which will be designed at helping clubs, not very familiar with Scor, with the promotion and development of culture in their clubs and therefore assist in the process of more effective participation in inter club competitions especially with the GAA’s focus on culture in the province of Ulster in 2013.
The ending of Scor na nOg competitors will be quickly followed by Scor Sinsear competitions in February 2013. Tyrone’s involvement, like Scor na nOg, will be totally in Ulster venues as the Scor Sinsear All Ireland final will also be held at a Derry venue.
It is therefore important for the development of Scor and Culture, in your club and county, that your club fully participates in these events which are designed to help you become more efficient and competition friendly. Tyrone is currently at the top of the All Ireland titles leader board and by total participation that is the place where we need to remain.
