Strabane Sigersons G.A.A. hosted a hugely successful week long Club Tyrone Summer Camp @ their club grounds Páirc Mhic Sioghair, Ballycolman with 180 boys and girls having a fantastic time with loads of coaching, fun and games enjoyed and many new friendships being made during the course of the week.
The event as always was organised to cater for the young people of the town to engage them in organised sporting activities during the summer holidays when they are usually at a loose end!
The club were delighted to work in partnership with Lisnafin Ardnalee Trust CCDA and Strabane District Council to deliver the programme of activities and extend our warmest thanks to both of them on behalf of the club and indeed all of the delighted participants and parents.
Our gratitude is also extended to to all the parents who assisted with teas, first aid, clean up, supervision and coaching. The camp co-ordinator and Tyrone Coach Fergal McCann was impressed with the welcome and support that his team of coaches received all week, stating that there is a great buzz about the Club. This “buzz” and the fact that the four days ran without a hitch was a result of the contribution that all the parents make around the Club. Thanks also to all the club coaches who came along to lend their help and assistance with a special word of mention to the Youth Officer Jason Foley who as always made a massive contribution in the build up to and indeed the event itself.
The prizes for best boy and girl chosen from the camp went to Ruairí Ó Dochartaigh and Niambh Ní Fhoghlú who will now go on to represent the club at half time during this seasons Tyrone Senior Football Championship final whilst Eoin Barkley and Mollie MacIntyre each received a football having been chosen as the presonalites at the camp.
It’s hoped that many of those who participated in the camp will now continue to attend the weekly training sessions organised by the club.
Finally a warm word of thanks to Tyrone Coaching and Games Development manager Anne Daly and her dedicated team of coaches who ensured that the event ran smoothly and the children were excellently coached and supervised.
