Madison Square Gardens, Cesars Palace and the York Hall are three venues that are held in high regard among fans of boxing. However on Saturday 17th August, St Pat’s Hall Strabane is certain to take its place among the bastions of great venues as it will be the arena for Owen Roes GFC, ‘Rumble with the Roes’.

The North Tyrone Club, in conjunction with Mourne Golden Gloves, are the latest club to use this method to not only raise much needed funds for the club, but also provide an excellent evening’s entertainment for what’s sure to be a packed house.
The boxers themselves have been training now for years (Well weeks anyway) for the fight night, and although the fight match ups are being kept under wraps for now, we can reveal that on the card will be the very popular GAA referee, and long time Owen Roes secretary, Joe ‘R-Effin Ready’ Hegarty, Owen Roes ladies captain and Tyrone U14 ladies coach Róisín ‘The Riot’ Devine and former Naomh Padraig Lifford star, but now Owen Roes’ free scoring reserve forward, Damien ‘The Destroyer’ Crawford. Damien especially is certain to bring big support from Donegal, with his passionate support of the Tír Chonaill County over the last number of season.
Nonetheless despite the presence of Devine, Hegarty and Crawford on the card, a source close to the organising committee has promised that there are a couple of major boxing stars lined up to take part as well. Some of which are heavy weight stars outside of the ring as well as inside it.
The North Tyrone Club have been promoting the event via the usual channels but have also used their own youtube channel (www.youtube.com/user/TheRoes1970) to upload ads for the fight night harnessing modern day social media to spread the word.
The knock out action is expected to get underway at 8pm sharp, with doors opening at 7.30pm. There are just a few tickets left for the bout, and priced at £12.50 they can be obtained from Chris Caldwell, Róisín Devine, Joe Hegarty, or Damien Crawford.
