PRESS RELEASE
The Tir Eoghain GAA Health and Wellbeing Committee is organising a day trip to Croke Park stadium for senior gaels on Saturday 26th October 2019.
The annual outing is available to those aged 55 and over, male and female, and is aimed at providing those participating with an opportunity to escape the routine of everyday life, socialise and enjoy each others’ company on a relaxed day trip.
The trip is part of the GAA social initiative which is a long-standing initiative to make clubs more age-friendly by increasing the participation of older members of society, through organised events, and to date over 200 of our older gaels have enjoyed our annual trip to Croke Park.
Clubs are being invited to send three people to enjoy a fantastic day out in Croke Park on Saturday 26th October. They will enjoy a full guided tour of the Stadium, a short film on the history of Croke Park and some of the great matches played there. This will be followed by lunch and then some time to enjoy the Croke Park Museum before making the journey home.
The highlight of the event will be a guided tour of the iconic stadium, one of the world’s finest.
The group will be able to re-trace the steps of the legendary Tyrone teams of 2003, ’05 and ’08, who famously won three All-Ireland titles on the hallowed turf.
A fascinating insight into the running of Croke Park, along with an informative commentary on its history, will be provided by your tour guide.
Transport will be provided from four designated pick-up/drop off points :
Strabane- Melmount Chapel departing 8.15am
Omagh- Crevenagh Road park and share departing 8.50am
Garvaghey – Tyrone centre departing 9.15am
Dungannon – Donnelly Motors, Moy Road departing 9.45am
Clubs are being asked to identify three older people in their club for the trip. This could be a longstanding club player; the person who looked after the jerseys; groundsman; committee member; first aid volunteer; fundraiser or any other committed member of the Club over the years.
The cost to the club is £20 per person.
Please note the following:
Each nominee must be approx. over 55 years of age.
Please ensure the names of your nominees with a contact number are confirmed asap, along with their choice of chicken or salmon for lunch with a cheque payable to Tyrone GAA or a card payment by telephone to 028 85567723 for £20 per person.
