Derrylaughan hosted a foundation coaching course on Saturday morning. It was a chance to increase on last year’s coaches who have now a full year of coaching under their belt. All the participants would like to thank Derrylaughan for the use of their facilities and hospitality on the day. There will be a Level one coaching course run over one evening and two days on February 21st, 22nd and March 1st. The cost of the course will be £60 and it is for all those who have already done their foundation course last year.
The county seniors continued their training session in the Garvaghey complex. The first match against Limerick is fast approaching and the team are holding a fund raising quiz in McAleers bar on Sunday February 2ndat 5:00pm. Everyone welcome and all clubs are encouraged to send representation and support their county team.
Ulster camogie held their annual convention at the Navan Centre in Armagh last Sunday. Aileen Lawlor, President of the camogie association was in attendance. The delegates were informed that as this year’s Féile will be held in Ulster and there are still places for clubs to host out teams. The hosting of clubs throughout Ireland will mean automatic entry for the hosting club into the competition for their respective under 14 teams. Any clubs that are interested can contact Ulster council. Bridghidin Heenan was elected as the new chairperson for the coming year. Everyone would like to thank Kathleen Woods the outgoing chairperson for all her hard work over the years in office. Kathleen will be standing for President in the coming year. Rosemary Merry Hughes will be standing down as treasurer next year as the five year rule makes this her last year in post.
All clubs will be using the new online registration system this year and clubs will be trained on its use in the coming months. This year’s Ulster colleges All Star team will not play an Inter Provincial match but they will play a county team in the coming months. The awards ceremony for the All star players will be held on May 9th.
Tyrone camogie fixtures committee will be meeting in the next week to make the league and championship draws for all age groups. All clubs are to have a representative at the meeting. Fixture chairperson Leona Gallagher will be contacting all clubs in the next few days.
