Tyrone kept their hopes of reaching the Bank of Ireland McKenna Cup Semi Finals alive with a strong second half performance to defeat Ulster University. A first half palmed goal from Niall McKenna was enough to give Tyrone a slight 1-8 to 1-6 lead at the short whistle. A much improved second half display was capped by a Ronan McHugh goal on his first start for the County Seniors, while Under 21 panelists Michael McKernan of Coalisland and Ben McDonnell and Niall Kelly of Errigal Ciaran were introduced to make their Senior Inter County debuts after being called in at late notice to Mickey Harte’s injury hit squad
