Owen & Bredge Ward, RIP.
The Tyrone GAA Community wish to extend their sincere sympathy to the Family of Owen and Bredge Ward, Lisnafin Park, Strabane who sadly both passed away this week.
Owen Ward, a dedicated Tyrone GAA Gael originally from Dunamanagh but who resided in Strabane up until his sad passing and that of his wife Bredge both within a matter of only a few hours of each other has shocked the GAA Family in Tyrone and much further afield.
GAA played a big part in Owen’s life, winning a Junior Football Championship medal with his Club Dunamanagh St.Patrick’s in 1967. Owen went on to play for Owen Roes during the 1970’s. Owen’s love of Gaelic games saw him win a Senior Hurling Championship medal with Dunamanagh Aodh Ruadh who won the Tyrone Senior County Final in 1981. That same year Owen managed the Strabane Sigersons U.14 team to a County U.14 Final losing out to Dromore.
In later years Owen was heavily involved in helping out the Strabane Shamrocks Hurling Club. Owen himself represented his County lining for Tyrone Senior Hurlers.
Owen’s son Marty played in Goals for Tyrone Senior Hurlers and won an All Ireland Junior Championship medal in 1996.
Tyrone GAA wish to extend their sincere sympathy to the Family and Friends of both Owen & Bredge Ward R.I.P.
