The national 60×30 action will conclude over the next couple of weekends with a host of Tyrone juvenile players still in contention for All Ireland medals, with the National Juvenile Team Events and All Ireland Colleges Championship finals to come.

Brackey’s Conor McElduff and Pól Clarke completed a great season in championship handball for their club and County last weekend. The duo captured the All Ireland 60×30 Junior B Doubles crown with a win over Kilkenny in the final at Kells.
The Tyrone Juvenile team of 6 will be in action in the weekend ahead in Roscommon and Dublin. At Under 12/13 the Tyrone team comprises Caolan McCartan, Cahir Munroe, Lorcan McBride, Anton Fox, Ronan Curran, Cormac Munroe and they will face Tipperary in St. Coman’s, Roscommon, on Saturday at 12pm while at Na Fianna, Dublin, the Tyrone Under 14/15 team of Turlough Clarke, Ciaran Cuddy, Conor Kelly, Matthew McCartan, Tiernan McCrystall will meet Cork in the semi finals. The 60×30 season will then conclude the following weekend where a number of Tyrone players will contest the latter stages of the All Ireland colleges championships.
Meanwhile, plans are already underway at county level with the new season in 40×20 just around the corner. The Red Hand county will this season see a return to the County League competitions with a host of exciting events and tournaments ahead, all starting from 9th November 2013. The County’s new sponsor for County gear and Tyrone Leagues & Championships for 2013/2014 is Tyrone Attic Stairs. There will be a Premier League, Division 1, Division 2, 3 and 4 at Adult level with leagues across all Juvenile Grades from U12 – U17, with final positions deciding the Tyrone Juvenile Handball team for 2014. There will be additional Under 10 Blitzes as well as a Ladies Open Event when the Tyrone Attic Stairs Championships get underway in early January 2014. Entry forms and information will be updated on the Tyrone GAA Handball official facebook page – www.facebook.com/TyroneGaaHandball – with a new Tyrone Handball website also to be launched in the coming month. All entries must be with Tyrone Handball Secretary, Martin Toner, tyrone.handball@gaa.ie, by Closing dates for entry to the events is 31st October 2013.
In conjunction with the Tyrone GAA Handball Strategic Plan, launched earlier in 2013, the county committee are running an inaugural One Wall Tournament for GAA club players, who are not presently playing handball in Tyrone GAA Handball Leagues and championships. This further enhances the Handball unit’s continued work with Tyrone GAA to ensure participation of all the family of gaelic games at club and county level. The introduction and rapid growth of one wall handball in particular has facilitated such a venture by the county committee, with so many clubs and schools in the county having now erected one wall facilities. The growth should continue into the future now also with many GAA Clubs in Tyrone set to avail of this exciting new initiative. Final formats, fixtures and planning for the event will be decided at a Tyrone GAA Handball Committee meeting following receipt of all entries from GAA Clubs and assessment of entry numbers. Closing date for entries is 21st November 2013 and full entry forms and information will be released by the Tyrone Handball Committee soon.
