Tyrone Players Preparing for All Ireland Semis!

By tyronepro Wed 29th Feb

Tyrone minor doubles pair, Gabhainn McCrystal and Pol Clarke, added another Ulster title to the county’s roll of honour for 2012 when they defeated Monaghan duo Darren Doherty and Darren Byrne in last weekend’s provincial championship decider.
The Brackey pairing will now meet the Connacht champions in the All-Ireland semi-final, while their clubmates, Seamus and Eamon McCrory, are also preparing for an All-Ireland assault in the over 35 category. Both doubles teams will have home advantage for their semi-final engagements, but this weekend the Tyrone players who recently secured Ulster singles titles will have to travel to Connacht to stake their claim for an All-Ireland final place.
The tie of the weekend from a Tyrone perspective will be the All-Ireland intermediate singles semi-final in Moycullen featuring Carrickmore’s Caolan Daly and Galway’s brilliant teenager, Martin Mulkerrins, who only last weekend won the prestigious US Collegiate title.
At the same venue, Brackey’s Seamus McCrory will face Galway’s Trevor Hannon in the Over 35B Singles semi-final, while Loughmacrory’s Lisa McAleer is due to be in action in Ballaghadereen against Mayo’s Pauline Gallagher in the ladies intermediate singles semi-final, although Lisa has picked up an injury since beating Armagh’s Fionnuala McKenna in the Ulster decider and had to pull out of the ladies open singles competition last weekend.
Meanwhile, Darragh Daly and Shane O’Neill are due to face Roscommon in the Irish Open doubles preliminary round on Wednesday night in Kells. Darragh recently succumbed to an in form Brian Carroll of Meath in the open singles competition, while Shane put up a very good performance in the Open Singles before eventually going down in a three game match to Mayo’s Joe McCann.
