Monday 6th March at 7.30pm In Garvaghey
Speaking ahead of the First ever Club Umpires Seminar in Tyrone The Tyrone Referees Administrator Eugene Mc Connell stated,
“The Tyrone Referees Committee have organised the Seminar for all those Clubs Who wish to send their Club volunteers who Sunday after Sunday take up their positions at the Goal posts to act as Club Umpires so they can become better Umpires”
The Referees Committee have identified this area of Club responsibility as sadly lacking in any formal training to the role and duties of an Umpire.
All to often it’s a case of coaxing the first available suspect to fulfill the role and they either have never done it before and are totally unsure of what the actual responsibilities are.
This Seminar will provide all those Club Officials with some degree of awareness as to what is expected of a CLUB UMPIRE.
The Referees Committee are urging all Clubs to avail of this training ahead of the new Season.
This will hopefully make officials more confident with their role and hopefully improve the standard of Umpiring. It is also hoped that with some aspect of official training The Club referee will then be able to call on his new Umpire Team to assist him at any appointments for Championship games he may be officiating at.
Tyrone once again are the first County to organise this training for Club Referees and if we are serious about raising the standards it is hoped the Clubs will buy into it and support the event.
The Seminar gets under way at 7.30pm sharp and should be concluded in an hour. Any Queries contact the Referees Administrator.
