Tyrone Talks ‘Sponsorship and the GAA’ @ Garvaghey

By tyronepro Thu 10th Mar

Tyrone GAA is hosting what we believe is a first national seminar on GAA sponsorship in the Garvaghey Centre on Saturday 19 March.
It follows the success of Tyrone’s pioneering national seminar on successful County GAA fund-raising models held last November.
The 19 March seminar will be led by Paul McAnallen of Shift-Control. Paul has a substantial background in sports-related marketing and as a Tyrone Gael and Club Tyrone man has been at the forefront of Tyrone GAA’s sponsorship work.
“This week’s big GAA story is the €22m Counties spent on preparing their teams last year” Paul explained.
“With outgoings like that its absolutely essential that those same Counties maximize their sponsorship income.”
“This whole area of sponsorship is relatively new to the GAA as it only came on board in the early 1990s.”
“For over 100 years it wasn’t an issue for us but that in turn means we have a bit of catching up to do.”
The Tyrone seminar will look at good practice in prospecting for, securing and retaining sponsors. It will mix-and-match formal presentations with workshop and breakout sessions.
“We have to be ahead of the game here” Tyrone County Treasurer Raymond McKeown added.
“There’s a lot of good things happening in GAA sponsorship but we need to be sharing them and learning from each other.”
“That’s what our 19 March seminar is about.”
The seminar will run from 10.00am to 3.00pm and is free of charge. If you’re coming, let us know at orla.oneill.gpo.tyrone@gaa.ie or mark@venturei.org
