Go-Games Guidance/Rules
Referees:
Try and get them organised in advance of blitz and appraise them of the rules below. If not let them know rules in the morning before commencing the blitz:
General Rules:
1. Children must have fun, enjoy themselves and have good time etc
2. Every U10 child in Tír Eoghain must have the opportunity to play meaningful games in an informal, safe and enjoyable environment, have fun and experience a sense of enjoyment and fulfillment and be treated with respect, dignity and sensitivity.
3. All mentors and clubs should implement the “Give Respect Get Respect” <http://www.gaa.ie/content/documents/publications/coaching_and_games/Respect_Initiative_Booklet.pdf> initiative and practice the “Code of Behaviour when Working with Underage Players”<http://www.gaa.ie/content/documents/publications/child_welfare/Code_of_behaviour_3rd_edition.pdf> as per safeguarding training.

Playing Rules
Before and after the game players line up and shake hands with opposing players and referee. Play commences with a throw-in in the middle of the field
A defender may advance 5m for a kick out
‘Two Touch’ Rule applies – players are restricted to one bounce and one toe tap or two toe taps per possession.
Points only (no goalkeepers)
Person fouled takes free
Side line ball – person nearest ball when it goes out takes side line kick
Over carrying – again if appropriate nearest person from opposing team takes free kick
When a defender plays the ball over his/her own end line, the other team are awarded a free kick from the 20 metres from ground/hands
Useful advice: Start all games at same time and finish them at same time (many clubs have successfuly employed an air horn etc for this purpose)
For U10s 8/9 a side is recommended – try if at all possible to arrange the numbers to avoid having substitutes
Please Note:
Mentors should wear give “respect get respect bibs”
Strict adherence to “Our Games Our Code – Code of Best Practice in Youth Sport when working with underage players” as per Tyrone County Board Safeguarding training.
