The Western Trust held this innovative event for the first time in the Fermanagh area last year and due to the overall success of the event, the Trust decided to organise another. The evening aims to raise awareness of Diabetes, Asthma and Epilepsy among youth coaches and people who look after and work with children involved in sports.
The evening is free to attend and will provide specialist advice delivered directly by Specialist Nurses with a question and answer opportunity included.
Explaining why this awareness evening was organised, Damien McHugh, Western Trust Paediatric Diabetes Specialist Nurse said: “The Awareness Evening was organised in recognition of the need for educating youth coaches who are looking after children playing sport about conditions such as Diabetes, Asthma and Epilepsy. We wish to hit home the importance of being aware of these conditions and what to do when children who have these conditions might need their support.”
