100th Garvaghey Patron Secured
Tyrone’s smallest club Dregish have become the 100th member to sign up to the Club Tyrone Garvaghey Patron scheme. A Garvaghey Patron is someone who commits to give £5,000 to the Garvaghey project. The scheme was launched by Club Tyrone back in the autumn and already the committee have secured some 64 private and 36 club donations.
Club Tyrone Chairman Hugh McAleer, committee member Mark Conway and county senior football manager Mickey Harte fly to USA this weekend to muster up support for the project from exiles in Philadelphia and New York.
McAleer in understandably delighted to have reached this milestone before travelling. “We’re going to Philadelphia and New York to brief Tyrone people on what’s now known as the Garvaghey Project. It’s very encouraging news to hear that we now have 100 patrons signed up for the scheme so quickly. We are delighted that Dregish one of our smallest clubs has generously backed the project. We will now need to re-adjust our targets and I expect us to reach 125 in the not to distant future as a number of the remaining clubs have confirmed that they will be joining shortly.”
